should avoid doing business with china's two leading technology firms because they pose a national security threat. a year-long probe says these companies pose a security risk. the committee recommends that government computer systems should not include any components made by these companies and they may have violated some laws. how important is this, dave? >> it's important. chairman rogers was an important component of the piece we did early this month that was on chinese cyber espionage. it focused on huawei. a company discovered the chinese were in their system, nortel. they went out of business. some claim it's because of huawei. chairman rogers is trying to raise the alarm on this. i can only tell you from firsthand experience, so many ceos of fortunate 500 companies who would not come on the program that we did a number of months ago because they fear for their business in china have admitted to me face to face that their firewalls had been breached by the chinese, that they'd been informed of that by the fbi. and so by doing this, chairman rogers simply is able to raise a l

in the united states. one is called waway. the other is called zte. both of them are big technology companies. they make things like routers and other internet gear. what this report says is they think that china, the government, has the means, the opportunity and the motive to use telecommunication companies like this for malicious purposes. namely espionage. spying. they say these companies' equipment poses a national security threat for the united states. interestingly this report is especially critical of huawei. it points to intellectual property violations, allege ties to iran and what the committee calls, quote, a pattern and practice of potentially illegal behavior in the united states. of course, both companies pushing back. they're disputing the findings. they are expected to release more detailed statements later on presideon huawei is calling report baseless. saying it's a dangerous political distraction. zte says it sets an unprecedented standard for cooperation by any chinese company with the congressional investigation, that coming from zte, the smaller of the two companies. ca
